The awakening of consciences regarding "where" and "how"
For several decades, so-called "developed" countries have been affected by a wave of deindustrialization, then, in recent years, there has been a kind of awakening, a general awareness: understanding what we buy and knowing where our purchases come from have become major issues again.
Local manufacturing meets increasingly essential needs
If products from local manufacturing are so popular today, it is because they echo essential needs:
-
Transmission of know-how between generations and creation of associated jobs, quality of transmitted know-how generating jobs
-
Knowledge of the origin of purchased materials and their selection process
-
Understanding the impact of global trade on the planet
-
Coherence between the search for meaning and purchasing acts
The new relationship to stock
Make-to-order production is a manufacturing technique in which producers only start making a product after a customer places an order. In such a case, goods are custom-produced according to each customer's specifications. Make-to-order manufacturing has two main advantages:
- Rings are made after a customer's order is received, minimizing waste
- Efforts are focused on manufacturing the product according to the customer's specifications
The choice of Héloïse & Abélard
At Héloïse & Abélard, we have chosen to manufacture our 18-carat recycled gold jewelry, certified CoC, and from second-hand diamonds in Paris.
9 artisan jewelers work together on each of our pieces, and a double quality control is carried out first within the workshop and then within our House.
Our Parisian manufacturing workshop is audited and certified annually by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). The 5th generation is now at the helm, so our workshop is a distinguished member of the Centenary Family Businesses.
Our partner workshop is located in the Marais district; it carries out 100% of our manufacturing and also works for many Houses in Place Vendôme.
At Héloïse et Abélard, rings are made to order and require a lead time of 3 to 4 weeks.
