The Shape of the Wedding Band
A wedding band can come in a multitude of shapes and appearances, so how do you choose? We give you an overview of the existing models in jewelry: from the most classic to the most original.
As you will see, comfort has a say without sacrificing style, so make your choice as you please!
From D-Shape to Flat
The D-shape is a classic wedding band model: it is rounded on its outer surface, while the inner part, in contact with the finger's skin, is flat. The Parisian court has a nearly similar shape but differs from the D-shape by a significantly greater thickness.
The flat band is also a traditional wedding band with right-angled edges. The inner surface of the jewelry is slightly curved.
The Jewelry Classic: The Court Band
It is named this way because, like the plant of the same name, it is round and uniform.
Note that there are still some specificities within this "family," the "Parisian" court band being thicker than the classic one.
First Originality Allowing for Comfort: The D-Shape Band
Its particularity is having a rounded exterior and a flat interior, which provides more comfort. You therefore retain the effect of the court band while taking care of your fingers!
Embracing Modernity: The Flat Band
Comfort takes precedence and is embraced: the flat band indeed has a flat interior and exterior. This shape is increasingly requested, but be aware that it is more susceptible to scratches than the court band.

The Beaded Wedding Band
Original yet subtle, the ring takes the form of a succession of gold beads linked to each other. The beaded type brings brilliance and femininity while respecting the tradition of a ring without diamonds or stones.

Stone-set Wedding Band or Not?
The stone-set wedding band, meaning with diamonds or other stones, is increasingly sought after.
As it is intended to accompany the engagement ring, its relationship with the diamond is very delicate.
Indeed, it retains the spirit of the wedding band while adding the sparkle of the diamond. To ensure it "marries" perfectly with the engagement ring, there are different types of settings.
The Claw Setting
Secure and among the most discreet and aesthetic, the claw setting is the most used in jewelry. It is particularly suitable for diamonds: it allows light to pass through while enabling maximum brilliance of the diamonds.

The Flush Setting
The flush setting is used when wanting to include small stones. The stones are slightly surrounded by the metal of the wedding band that holds them. Very creative, this setting allows for arranging a large number of small stones while playing with the shape of the flush setting.
At Héloïse & Abélard, we have thus created a five-diamond star-set wedding band.
